Extra virgin olive oil provides powerful antioxidant protection against toxins that cause oxidative stress and damage to the liver, according to a new study by Researchers at the University of Monastir.
“Olive oil is an integral ingredient in the Mediterranean diet,” explained Mohamed Hammami, author of the study.
“There is growing evidence that it may have great health benefits including the reduction in coronary heart disease risk, the prevention of some cancers, and the modification of immune and inflammatory responses.”
Besides providing a powerful antioxidant effect, olive oil is a highly effective anti-cancer food. It is also responsible for regulating gene expression for nearly 100 different genes throughout the body. Olive oil is also beneficial for maintaining a healthy weight, lowering bad cholesterol, improving heart health, and prolonging life.
