In March Allison and Kathleen, part owners of Riverbend Farms spent a week in Seville, Spain. The trip wasn’t all fun, though Seville is a fabulous place to visit, but had a serious side as well. Alli and Kathleen were participants in a three day intensive course “Tasting the World’s leading olive oils,” given by the renowned Simon Field of Savantes.
The course took place in the most friendly and pleasant Becquer Hotel in Seville. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to all our friends. In three days we were taken on a mind blowing journey as we learned about oils from all the leading countries around the world. We were privileged to taste the best oils under the close supervision of Simon who schooled us in the finer points of oil tasting and blending.
We have come home more informed and even more determined to produce top quality oil at Riverbend with a greater respect for the potential of the “liquid gold” that we are privileged to see through all its stages of production from tree to bottle.
